Unlike airports where each airline has a single flagship lounge, LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) is home to one of the most impressive—and confusing—collections of airport lounges anywhere in North America. Between airline lounges, alliance lounges, premium credit card lounges, and partner agreements, it’s surprisingly easy to walk past a world-class lounge without realizing you were actually eligible to enter.

The good news is that once you’re through security, most terminals at LAX are connected by airside walkways. That means you don’t necessarily have to be departing from Terminal B to enjoy one of its premium lounges, as long as you leave yourself enough time to walk back to your gate.

Whether you’re flying economy with a premium credit card, traveling in business class, or simply wondering if it’s worth paying for lounge access, this guide breaks down every major lounge in Terminal B—including who can get in, what it costs, and which lounges are actually worth your time.

American Express Centurion Lounge

For many travelers, the Centurion Lounge is the gateway into premium airport travel. Even if you’ve never flown first class, holding the right American Express card can get you inside one of the nicest lounges at LAX.

Located on Level 2 inside Terminal B, the Centurion Lounge has earned a reputation for chef-inspired food, craft cocktails, premium coffee, showers, fast Wi-Fi, family rooms, and plenty of comfortable places to work or relax before a flight. It’s also one of the busiest lounges at LAX, especially during the afternoon and evening international departure banks. Waitlists aren’t uncommon, so arriving early is a smart move.

Who can get in?

You’ll typically have complimentary access if you hold:

  • American Express Platinum Card
  • Business Platinum Card
  • Centurion Card
  • Eligible Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express cards when flying Delta (subject to current terms)

You’ll need your eligible card, a same-day boarding pass, and a government-issued ID. You don’t have to be flying a specific airline, which makes it one of the easiest premium lounges to use at LAX.

Guest policy

This is where many travelers get caught off guard.

Platinum cardholders no longer receive automatic complimentary guest access. Unless you’ve met American Express’s annual spending threshold for complimentary guests or hold a Centurion Card with enhanced privileges, expect to pay about $50 per adult guest (children 2–17 are generally $30). As of July 2026, guests also need to be traveling on the same flight as the cardholder.

Can you buy a day pass?

No.

Unlike some airline lounges, the Centurion Lounge doesn’t sell day passes. If you don’t have an eligible American Express card or qualifying access through another program, you won’t be able to purchase entry.

Is it worth it?

Absolutely—if you already have access.

The food is consistently among the best at LAX, the showers are clean, the drinks are excellent, and the lounge feels genuinely premium. The only downside is popularity. If you’re traveling during the evening international rush, don’t be surprised if there’s a wait.

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse

If the Centurion Lounge feels like a luxury hotel buffet, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse feels like a boutique cocktail lounge.

It’s stylish without being pretentious, quieter than most airport lounges, and famous for restaurant-style dining instead of self-serve buffets. Service here tends to be outstanding, and many frequent travelers actually prefer it over the Centurion Lounge.

If your priority is enjoying a relaxed meal and a cocktail before an overnight flight, this may be the best lounge at LAX.

Who gets access?

Complimentary access is generally available for:

  • Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers
  • Eligible Delta One passengers
  • Flying Club Gold members
  • Select SkyTeam premium passengers

American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders may also have access during designated hours through the Global Lounge Collection, although availability varies and capacity restrictions apply.

Can you buy access?

Sometimes.

Virgin occasionally offers paid entry or Priority Pass access during quieter periods, although policies vary. If available through Priority Pass, expect a supplemental fee of around $35 per person, and access is often suspended before Virgin departures because of limited capacity. Community reports consistently note that availability can be hit or miss.

Worth visiting?

Without question.

If you can get in, this is one of the most enjoyable lounges at LAX. The à la carte dining, cocktails, and peaceful atmosphere make it feel more like an upscale restaurant than an airport lounge.

Korean Air Lounge

The Korean Air Lounge received a significant renovation and now feels bright, modern, and much more competitive with the airport’s newer lounges.

It’s designed primarily for Korean Air and SkyTeam passengers, offering Korean dishes alongside international favorites, premium beverages, showers, business facilities, and comfortable seating.

Who qualifies?

Access is generally included for:

  • Korean Air Prestige (Business) Class
  • Korean Air First Class
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling internationally
  • Eligible premium cabin passengers on partner airlines

Unlike the Centurion Lounge, this isn’t a lounge you can normally enter with a credit card alone.

Can you buy a day pass?

Generally no.

Access is based on your airline ticket or elite status.

Star Alliance Lounge

If I had to recommend just one lounge at LAX, this would probably be it.

Ask frequent international travelers which lounge they seek out before a long-haul flight, and the Star Alliance Lounge comes up again and again.

The biggest draw is the outdoor terrace overlooking the airfield—still one of the best places anywhere at LAX to watch aircraft movements while enjoying a drink. Inside, you’ll find generous seating, quality buffet options, premium wines, showers, and a noticeably calmer atmosphere than many competing lounges.

Who can enter?

You’ll generally qualify if you’re:

  • Flying Star Alliance Business Class internationally
  • Flying Star Alliance First Class
  • A Star Alliance Gold member on an eligible international itinerary
  • An eligible United Premier member traveling internationally

Can you purchase access?

Not usually.

Unlike airline clubs that sell memberships or day passes, the Star Alliance Lounge is reserved almost entirely for qualifying premium cabin passengers and elite members.

Why it’s so highly rated

Simple.

It rarely feels overcrowded, the food is consistently good, the showers are excellent, and the outdoor terrace alone makes it one of the best airport lounges in the United States.

Which LAX Airport Lounge Is Best?

After spending time in all of them, here’s how I’d rank them.

Best overall: Star Alliance Lounge

If you qualify, this is the complete package. Great food, excellent drinks, showers, plenty of seating, and arguably the best terrace at any U.S. airport.

Best credit card lounge: American Express Centurion Lounge

The easiest premium lounge to access without flying business class. Excellent food and drinks, but expect crowds.

Best atmosphere: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse

Restaurant-quality dining, outstanding cocktails, and a boutique hotel vibe that feels genuinely relaxing.

Best for SkyTeam travelers: Korean Air Lounge

A significant upgrade after its renovation and an excellent choice for Korean Air and SkyTeam passengers.

Can You Visit More Than One Lounge?

Yes—and it’s one of the biggest advantages of flying through Terminal B.

If you qualify for multiple lounges, there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying lunch at one lounge and moving to another before boarding. For example, many travelers start with the Centurion Lounge before heading to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse or another airline lounge they also qualify for.

Just remember that access is always subject to each lounge’s individual rules and available capacity.

Final Thoughts

LAX has transformed into one of the best airports in North America for premium lounge access, but only if you understand the rules before you arrive.

Some lounges are reserved exclusively for premium cabin passengers. Others are unlocked with the right credit card. A few allow paid access under limited circumstances, while others don’t sell entry at all.

Taking a few minutes to understand which lounges you qualify for can turn a long layover into one of the most enjoyable parts of your trip. Whether you’re looking for a quiet workspace, a hot shower before a long-haul flight, a proper meal, or simply a comfortable place to escape the crowds, Terminal B offers an option for almost every type of traveler.

And if you happen to qualify for the Star Alliance Lounge, don’t skip the outdoor terrace. It’s one of those rare airport experiences that aviation enthusiasts—and even casual travelers—remember long after the flight is over.
